A Place to Run to.

Always, we find ourselves in situations that disturb our resting inertia, and we indulge ourselves in matters so worldly that they have no actual design in relieving our inner unease. Look around, while the earth is slowly engulfed by two great opposites – a blazing inferno and an overflowing flood – and deadly virus the size of a molecular atom roam on lands and through lungs, we find ourselves dwelling within the confines of four brick walls, sitting like shrimps in front of (minimum) two colourful screens, in hopes that the livelihood of the internet can uplift the sense of hopelessness we all suffer right now. As days pass by, more souls are ripped away from this cruel pandemic, more despicable figures govern our vulnerable nation, and more heart-breaking news circulate from continents afar. These events, so forceful and simultaneous, render many despaired.

Yet, here we are, giving rein to a writing competition that is aimed to collectively increase deep reflection upon positive and worthwhile enlightenment. It is admirable how much resilience human beings have, when faced with adversities in life. We all try to look for the light in the dark, turning every single obstacles into an opportunity to grow stronger and better, whether it be through a singular or shared effort. This flame within us, fuelled by tired bones and sparks of spiteful mulls, is too monstrous for our overworked hearts, and that is why there is the pressing need to seek for a calm and cooling flow. Something in us, when tested, wants to escape the cage of timidity for the air of serenity and tranquillity.

Where shall we go to when no amount of money, loyal friendship and family, great business invention, as well as games and shows that promise grand gaiety can heal our withering hope; our shaken mind; and our dying spirit? Ah, yes. Only one presence come to mind. Who else but Him – the Lord of the worlds. He promised us that when we walk to Him, He runs to us, and when we look for Him, it is because He looked for us first. Truly, what we seek is seeking us. So, pray. Pray to our hearts’ contents, and let the worries of this world seep out of you through blobs of hot tears and quiet but pained professions. Since we are under His Care, nothing is more reassuring and soothing than knowing that we are all in His Plans.

Lo and behold, as the world crumbles around us, we still have a place to run to.
